Online Review Listings
Build Your Reputation
Use online review websites to gather valuable feedback from customers, improve your reputation and increase search engine performance.
Some of the most popular review websites are platforms such as Google My Business, Yelp and Facebook, all of which provide excellent opportunities to start building your reputation. There are also industry specific platforms like TripAdvisor or Trustpilot which can be extremely effective. These metrics are also used by search algorithms to determine search engine rank, so it’s worth aiming to collect as many reviews as possible.
Given customers read an average of 10 online reviews before feeling able to trust a local business it’s worth getting set up on multiple platforms to encourage customers to leave reviews on the platform they feel most comfortable with. It’s also worth making customers aware that they can leave reviews so you can build up your reputation – just be sure that you don’t pay for reviews or offer other forms of compensation (it’s a bad practice which will reflect poorly on your business).
However, it’s also worth noting that reviews can act as a double-edged sword – negative reviews can also influence your business so it’s worth checking your online reputation regularly to ensure you can respond to critics.
When responding to negative reviews remain calm and professional, show empathy by acknowledging the problem and try to provide reasonable explanations and solutions to rectify the situation. It might be counter-intuitive but a transparent, sincere answer may actually build more trust with your customers by demonstrating your ability to resolve issues.
Review listing websites are a vital component to every business’ online presence but are just one of many ways to improve online reputation – book a call to find out how we can help your business.
